GI Days 2008 provides an opportunity for GI researchers and industry to meet and exchange the latest in GI research topics, findings and new research areas. GI Days is an event for the exchange and enrichment of ideas. The theme for GI Days 2008 is interoperability and spatial processing in GI applications. Application areas include but are not limited to disaster and risk management, mobile applications, ubiquitous geocomputing, navigation and location based services. High quality submissions over a wide array of topics in GI science are welcomed.
Years into interoperability research, GI Days 2008 aims at gathering researchers from academia and industry to meet and discuss the achievements of past years and set the interoperability research agenda. In addition GI Days 2008 aims to expose the state of the art in spatial processing research as an emerging research discipline. Participants of GI Days 2008 will be part of an international audience of interdisciplinary researchers and industry leaders that shape the future of GI science.
GI Days 2008 offers an English and a German track. Full papers (max. 6000 words), Short papers (max. 2000 words) and posters (max. 500 words abstract) are welcomed and are expected to cover visionary and innovative preliminary research findings, ideas, and/or results. Papers and posters will be subject to review by three reviewers in a standard referee system. Authors will be invited to license their paper on the basis of a creative commons license. The papers will remain available after the conference, on the GI Days web site. Forward-looking ideas and topics are particularly welcomed.
At least one author of every accepted paper needs to register for the conference in order for the publication to be included in the conference proceedings and on the web site. Accepted contributions will be published in the ifgiPrints series (with ISBN). The program committee will attempt to prepare a special issue in one of the GI science journals for the best submissions of the conference.
Whether you are a researcher in academia or in industry, you are welcomed to participate in shaping the future of GI research at GI-Days 2008.
